The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) project represents R. K & Associates’ vision for an academic environment that embodies accessibility, openness, and intellectual exchange, the very principles upon which the institution was founded. Conceived as a competition-winning design proposal, the project was recognized for its clarity in spatial planning, architectural coherence, and response to site and function.
The design integrates academic, administrative, and public zones into a unified campus framework that encourages interaction and flow. The architectural language is defined by simple geometric volumes, linear corridors, and open courtyards, allowing daylight and ventilation to animate interior spaces. The form and material palette evoke institutional dignity while maintaining functional flexibility and environmental sensitivity.
